MEH! My leg was feeling good all day! It didnt feel stiff or sore at all, all day, the best it's felt in over a week. I started my run and unlike all of my prior runs, the first 1/4 mile felt just fine. I decided to run down at the LRT, figuring the crushed limestone would feel better. I did 2 warmup miles then started on the first interval. The first 2 minutes felt fine, the I started feeling some pain around the inside of my knee the last mile. I finished that one up and then did my recovery and started on the second one ... and that one did not feel good at all. So I shut down the workout. It felt a little sore the first 1/4 mile after the second interval (but I didnt really have a choice, I was doing an out and back). But after the 1/4 mile, it felt ok again. Until the last half mile before home, at which point it started to hurt.

I am so frustrated! I feel like everytime I try to do faster speedwork, my legs rebel. Thinking back to Fargo -- it was the faster workouts that aggravated it as well (but that was at least understandable -- it was my bad leg -- this is my supposed good leg. I guess it's finally crying "uncle" after carrying the load for the bad leg!).

Anyways, here's what I'm thinking ---

1. No more speed workouts for a week or two. I seem to be ok on easy runs, but speed is making it cranky. Moderate stuff might be ok -- I can try and see at least.

2. Wondering if my shoes might be playing a role? I love my Launches, but maybe I need the increased support of the Glycerines? I think I still have some mileage left on a pair of Glycerines. Thinking maybe I'll try wearing those for the next week or so? Maybe i can just wear Launches for racing? Or wear my Glycerines for long runs easy runs and my Launches for speed? (or maybe Glycerines for speed? which is counterintuitive, I know, since they're heavier? but maybe I need that support during speed? I dont know -- I am reaching at this point)

3. While it didnt really help today -- I may try to do most of my speed work on the LRT. (at least when I can). just thinking it might be easier on my legs?)

4. I need to get back into doing my PT/Strength Work. I havent been good in keeping that up, so i guess this is somewhat my own doing.

This is making me cranky!!!! At this point, it might make more sense to just do Cape Cod for fun. While I'd like to do a fast half, CIM is more important to me. If the faster training and race for Cape Cod is going to ruin CIM for me ... then that's not the right thing for me to do.
