Man, it was freaking cold. It's crazy -- the temp looks nice, right? 54 degrees? And according to my weather app, only 8mph wind. But let me tell you, if felt like 38 degrees and 15 mph wind. It was raining the whole time -- i can live with that. But the wind was not fun. Concerns me because if it really was only 8mph -- probably more windy because we were by the river. But the race is also by the river.
Usually in 54 degree weather -- I'd wear a short sleeved shirt and shorts. I might be a tad cold for a half mile if that -- but then warm up. I never warmed up. In fact, I got colder.
I started to freak out a little, but then talked to Rob -- He already was planning on meeting me at mile 12. I think I"m going to wear my windbreaker jacket and if I'm hot, I can toss it at him at that point. I also brought my light weight vest too. I may wear that (instead of the windbreaker). I may go and buy some capris tomorrow. I only brought one pair with me and they dont have any pockets (so no where to carry Gu's, once I toss my jacket). My quads were super cold after just 3 today.
I've been so good about the weather all week. I knew it would be raining, but I did a good job at just not worrying about it. But after running in it this afternoon -- it's just so much colder than I was expecting. 54 did not feel like 54.
So .. I just need to rethink my apparel so i am at least armed against it (and also have a plan to ditch what i can if i do get warm) ... and then get back to not worrying about it.
