Notes

This was a really good, confidence boosting run -- despite the fact that my hamstring cramped up midway through the 3rd set. I would have rather my hammy didnt cramp up at all, but after it chilled out I started feeling better and better as the rest of the miles ticked by ... and I kept getting faster and faster (without really even trying). It was a good lesson for me to know that if my hammy cramps up, it doesnt mean the game is over.

It was also a great run because I just felt really good and strong. A lot of times I feel like I'm leaning on the sugar and/or caffeine rush from my Gu's to buoy me through the later miles. Last week in my 20 miler I used 3. Today, I only took one at mile 6. I thought about stopping and taking one later on (and I would in a marathon) but I decided to just roll with it and see how I felt without the extra lift from the sugar and caffeine.

My breathing/asthma was so much better today too, which I think played a big role in me feeling so good today. I went to the dr this week who put me on an additional medication, and I think it really helped. I felt like I could breathe the whole time. (I just compared my HRs on this run vs last week - avg last week was 162, with highs up into the 190s! Today avg 157, high only 175! Shows the difference in being able to breathe!)

Note: some of my GRP miles were a little on the slow side. I had company through about mile 12 and we were chatting through all of the workout miles! Good in that I could still easily chat with Paul & Carolyn through them, but yet I didnt do as good of a job keeping my eye on my pace.

I told Rob - you might not like this run because my pace was all over the place - not very consistent. Oh -- and I ended up doing an extra mile because my on-the-run math was terrible. I did an out & back for the last 6ish and didnt calculate right :(
