Notes

I wanted to up my long run game a little and was slightly nervous about how this would go, but it actually went really well. Kept the effort low for the first hour, which included slowing myself down a little at least once, and took a pineapple Ucan gel at 55 minutes. Felt pretty good, although a little overdressed, but didn't feel like I could run very fast for the planned uptempo portion. After just a couple minutes I felt pretty smooth though, and ended up just under 6:40 pace. I decided to try to use the downhill to bank some faster running and try to hold on to 6:40 pace for the whole 40 minutes, and ended up at 6:36, which was a pleasant surprise. The first 10 minutes were easy, the next 10 pretty good too, but the 10 after that felt a little harder and then I had to start working much harder until the finish. I definitely got some tunnel vision and I'm sure I looked like a zombie to any passersby. It felt sooo good to stop running and just lean against the fence in the front yard. Somehow I managed to plan/pace this run to have me finish about 5 steps from the driveway, which was fun too.

Not sure why these shoes work so well for me on long runs when I really don't like them on some easy runs, but I'll take it.
