Notes

I was looking for a controlled tempo today and I found it. Goal was to run minute pace without going under 5:50 on any of the extended downhills on this route. Starting from Dad's I ran the loop clockwise and the toughest bits were probably the half mile after turning onto South St and then up the Stoneybrook hill to 140. 140 wasn't too tough and I only really felt the hill at the end. I kept it pretty relaxed on Prospect and had to consciously ease back on Holman.

I feel like a slower tempo like this every few weeks is good for me. I think this is what people call a sub-threshold run. Supposedly these are great for aerobic development without being as taxing as a threshold run, and a weaker stimulus. Gonna have to figure out how to tackle the Run Free Grand Prix half next weekend, but after this I'm wondering if maybe just trying to run 6 minute pace with a mile warmup and cooldown could be the move. That's a long tempo and I don't really feel like climbing out of a hole for a couple weeks.
