Notes
Well, maybe the trick to getting a good pace is having to pee right beforehand. Probably about half as many people as the Cleveland marathon, but about 6 port-a-potties. (mental note for cleveland races) ...and just like Cleveland, the start was pretty much a cluster-@#$%, but that was to be expected for a large fun race like this. I didn't really hit my normal pace until maybe 1/3 mile in...and then perhaps overcompensated.
Only looked at my watch at the mile markers and sometimes later than that. I think that helps ensure that I'm running by feel.
It was about 40 degrees when we started and I had a long sleeve, a t-shirt and a windbreaker on top. I was warm about 1/2 mile into it.
I stopped my garmin late (as usual), but was still surprised by my time. I hadn't run any shorter races since before the half/full marathon training began this year. So I wasn't sure how much all those extra miles at a slower pace would help. Apparently they helped a decent amount...I beat my 5k PR pace with a 5-miler. Glad my legs remember how to run fast. :)
Happy Turkey day!
