Notes

2x Opening Quarter, 4x1 mile, Maintenance Mile. On the first quarter Danny kept going because he forgot about the quarters. Got out good I thought for these considering the were on the track instead of the Sloop since it was rainy and muddy. The first repeat was out a little fast, 2:32 through the half so I let Danny and Zeke go on this because I didn't want to stop early. Felt good going on the second one I was pretty tired from the first repeat still though so I was trying to recover and run hard as well, but slowed down 2-3 seconds. The third one felt like I was back on pace again. Fourth I was struggling to keep the pace but I pulled through. Calves were pretty tight/tired on these but started to loosen up by the end of the workout. After the last repeat Andy called for a Maintenance Mile, most of the returners saw this coming. For this I hurried up and put my compression socks on for it as well as no watch since Andy didn't want us to wear one. This felt pretty good, going through the first quarter I could tell this was gong to be my fastest repeat. On the second lap I started to catch Jason slowly to help him out since we've been training together for a while now. Starting the third lap I knew I was going to be tired a little bit since I've ran the mile so many times. I slowed down a little bit on the third lap I could tell though. On the start of the fourth lap I planned where I wanted to start to make my kick, usually with 300m to go. I moved into position to start the kick but felt like nothing was there really and Jason rolled up on me. Going into the final 200 Jason and I were neck-in-neck pretty much. I sling-shotted myself on the last corner and made for one final kick to the finish. I passed Jason right on the homestretch and tried going for Danny, as me and Jason were slowly moving ahead throughout the last repeat. Felt really good to finish this out, although I may have been tired early on my Mile instincts from high school kicked in and I knew what to do from there. Good and fast workout today, fastest so far this year!! And also good effort on the Maintenance Mile. Despite the fact that I do not wear flats during workouts only means when I put on spikes I'll run that much faster. I use this technique to not always run on 'fresh' legs or lighter shoes. I may buy a pair of flats soon though.
