My last run was two weeks ago. Life events conspired to interfere with training with two weekends away and too much time at work. Finally, I get to run again. But, exuberance exceeded my memory. I had been doing this tempo run at a 1.67 mile distance. I forgot and did it at 2 miles instead. Then, I started out too fast not giving myself time to loosen up a little. Rushing across the street as a car was approaching did not help to constrain my pace. My fastest pace for this workout was supposed to be 14:13m/m. My first mile was a 12:31m/m pace. I couldn't maintain that pace for the second mile and it slowed to 13:28 m/m with an overall average pace of 13:00m/m, still much faster than targeted. My HR stayed within range, though, which was good. I'm glad to be back running again.
