Notes

This was an improvement, not odd like yesterday, but not all good either. I wore my Merrell Trail Gloves and thick Thorlo mini-crew socks. My calves initially tightened, but then loosened again soon after. My nasal breathing limited was initially at a low HR of about 130, but settled back to a (for me) more normal low to mid 150 range. I stuck to doing loops of the lake path today. After a warm up walk, I did several repeats of speed down the boat ramp, run/walk, walk a quarter mile. After the first loop of running, I did a run/walk for the remainder. A light rain stated to aid the cool down walk. The first couple of loops were a push, but then they seemed to get easier and I kept adding yet another loop. During one run segment, a slight twinge of a cramp in my right calf signaled it was time to start my cool down. I'm not sure if the extra distance was good for me, but it certainly felt good, at least for the most part. The downside is mostly financial. I have outgrown another pair of shoes. I will probably lose a couple of toenails as they kept hitting the ends for the last half of the workout. I was a size 9 in 2009, then jumped to a size 10.5 and now I need a size 11. At almost 47 years old, I should not be outgrowing my shoes like this. But, if it will make me a better runner, I'll take it.
