Notes

This was the first workout of my new training plan (from go2lydiard.com, now running-wizard.com). There are some oddities with the plan I need to work around. I do not have a specific event I am training for and wanted to extend the plan to the maximum 39 weeks it allows. But, if I try to start with slightly longer runs at the beginning, instead of increasing the other end of the aerobic phase, it shortens the overall plan length. So, I need to start with a bit shorter than I could probably do and adjust it upwards myself. For example, the workout for day was a 0.5 mile easy jog, keeping HR in the 115 - 134 range. I was close at 136bpm, though the end was up and across the slope of the boat ramp. To add just a bit more time on my feel, I made this an out and back, running out and walking back. I will start tracking my heart rate variability again and use that as an indicator of how much I can safely increase the workouts. After giving the HRV time to settle, I will probably start with a 5k long run on Saturday instead of only 1 mile. I wore my Altra Instinct and CorrectToes today. Due to the shorter length, I also skipped the achilles tape and had no issue there. Maybe the skin of my achilles can adjust with these shorter duration workouts.
