Notes

Partly cloudy, warm, light breeze 70 deg. Long Run 15 miles on the plan at 9:00 – 9:15 pace. On call this weekend for Utilities so decided to run from the mill after the 9:00am meeting. Plan was to loop through Mexico and then do the Frye crossover loop. Finally got out the gate at around 10:00am. The sun was warm already. Went up Steve’s favorite hill, crossed the bridge and went up by the library then down and across the green bridge to 108. Ran through town and headed into Hosmer. Ran the walking path out to Hancock. Running a little too fast a pace so tried to cut it back some to get closer to 9:00. Went to look back to cross the road and felt my back and left hip kind of tweak. Left hip hurt for a bit then was ok. Right knee bothered me some too but was ok after a couple miles. Saw Kristen Provencher and another girl coming back in just before Frye crossover. Crossed over and ate a Honey Stinger waffle. At around 10 miles by left hip flexor started bothering me. Started to get the urge to quit. Waited for the waffle to kick in but I just felt hot and out of gas. Drank some tailwind dug deep to try and keep the pace up. Finally had to slow some and my hip was getting really sore. At 12.5 miles had stop, getting sharp pains in my hip and just felt like shit. Sat to cool and stretched my back some. Decided to get going again even if it was a really slow pace. Felt better for awhile but at mile 13 my left knee started to feel the IT band pain. At 13.5 had to switch to shuffle and walk, knee getting bad. Took the trail along the river back. Didn’t get to 15 miles. IT band hasn’t bothered me in forever. Really bummed this close to the marathon.

This run felt harder than it should have. Felt pretty good about the marathon, now I have no idea how it will go.

Gear: shorts, short sleeve tech T, hat, sunglasses, water pack with Tailwind
