Notes

Today was Val's annual birthday Fat Ass run. Big group invited to the Riverlands. The island off the picnic area was the home base. It was glare ice on the river so the course was on the main trail out to Middle earth then back to Homestead and Homestead back to the island. I got there a little early and ran with Luke for a mile out and back thinking he would do his usual poop but he didn't. When we got back everyone was getting their stuff ready with their sleds to haul out to the island. Luka got lots of attention and he was loving it. Most people were just hiking so Luka and I walked with different people for awhile then he wanted to go so we ran ahead of everyone else and waited at the picnic area for everyone else before crossing over to the island. After getting more pets from people, Val gave the instructions and everybody took off. Luke and I were pretty far back. He wanted to catch up to everyone so he was pulling hard on the leash. We weaved our way through the different groups until we got the front. It was about 5 miles that we had done and it was 2 back to the parking lot so we had to leave everyone and turn around. I decided to take Homestead back. The trail was pretty rough from people walking on it so we went a little slower and I think Luka was getting tired. We made it back ok and it was a good run. I had some hip/IT band type pain on and off. But not bad and it went away. We should have skipped the early 2 miles and done 2 more with the group, oh well. We both had fun.

Gear: Nike tights, UA coldgear shirt, jacket, warm headband, gloves (on and off), spikes, water pack (forgot to blow the water out of the tube back into the bladder and it froze)
