Notes

Sunny and mid 60's at the start, warmed into the 70's. Plan was 7-8 miles on single track. Lots of ATV's in the parking lot so I didn't loop around. Ran the first part of the race course. Stopped at the outhouse to poop. Good one. No other urges the rest of the run. Ran the second half of Homestead. Feeling a little low on energy, but decided to wait until I got to the top to have a GU. Did a bunch of Power Hiking but also ran some of the steeps too. When I got to the top my back was sore. Debated whether to go down Ledges and take ATV back or keep going on Ridge to Deer Path ext. Decided to keep going and I felt ok after the GU. The trail was pretty grown in at the beginning but was in good shape after that. A few bit downed trees but overall not bad. The bridge across the stream is getting rotten. It might collapse this winter. Had another GU heading back out on Fox Run. Decided I needed to run the first singletrack to get to 8 miles if I took Porcupine back. Somewhere on that trail my IT band started to complain. I was tired and was going to do some hiking any way so I hiked most of the steeps to keep it under control. Pretty sore at the end. Hit 8 miles as I was coming into the parking lot. Pretty hot but it was a good run overall. Definitely a good training run.
