Mexico Ledge

Notes

Mostly cloudy, cool, 69 degrees. Ran out the Honda trails with a plan to run below the Ledge and then climb up from Swett Ave. As soon as I started running the bottom of my right quad, just above the knee had some sharp pains. I tweaked this on Sunday the Riverlands. Tried to adjust my stride to not aggravate it when I landed on my right leg. It seemed to get better as I went along and by the time I got to the hills it was ok. I started climbing the usual way up thinking the turn down was at the second sign. I went down this way but it didn’t look right. So I turned around and ran/walked back up to the sign. I thought I should have turned at the first sign. Decided to just keep going up the way I have been and come down the Swett Ave trail then across below the Ledge. Felt good climbing, especially since I had a break. Still was pretty gassed by the time I got to the stump, but kept going after the 3 loops. Heart rate came down on the run over the Ledge. Ran to the stop, stopped for a minute to let my heart rate come down again and then ran down over to the front. Stopped for a minute to look at the view then headed up and down over to the Swett Ave trail. Took it at a moderate pace on the main trail because of all the rocks. Once on the Swett Ave trail I hammered down about as fast as I dared. Stopped at the bottom to recover and ran an easier pace back across. Climbed up to the sign, it was the first one. The ran down pretty hard, except for the long grassy areas. Then slowed down when I crossed 17. Ran easy for a bit but once my watch hit the next mile in the field I picked up the pace and ran hard for the next mile all the way to the end of the pavement by the boat launch. Stopped for a bit to recover then ran kinda easy the rest of the way, doing strides across the bridge. Right knee felt ok. Good training run. Friday I’ll have to do the reverse of this.
