Notes

Cloudy, cold, 24 deg. Took my spikes with me, wore my trail shoes and ran the road over to the Porter West trail. Forgot to use my inhaler before I left and by the time I got on the trail I was starting to feel the shortness of breath. The trail was groomed, very firm with very little loose snow on top. I ran without spikes and it was ok. Went out to the High School trail and decided to run down and checkout the Take Off trail to see how runnable it was. Not great running in my heavy Nike jogger pants. Breathing got a little worse as I cut across Scottie's Hill to the trail entrance. It had been snowshoed but was very soft, loose, and post-holy. Not good for running at all. Went back, put on my spikes, and took the snowmobile trail down to the field and went out the field. Passed Papianeau's gym class snowshoeing back. Ran all the way to the trail head for Bull Pine then turned around. Wasn't sure how the uphill on the way back would go with my asthma and heavy pants. Made it up the hill but was kinda gassed so I walked for bit. Ran all the way up the steep hill and was gassed so I walked some to recover then ran up and a little ways past the Port West trail. Came back out the Porter West trail and stopped to take off my spikes. By now I was really struggling. I was breathing like I was running a 5k. Very labored. Couldn't any big breaths in. Still able to run but not comfortably. Made it back to the mill ok. Good run. The trail was pretty sweet. Hopefully it will hold up over the weekend and will be better with warmer weather next week. Brutal cold and dangerous wind chill Friday and Saturday.

Gear: Nike jogger pants, short tech T, long cotton T, gloves(on and off), headband, water pack, spikes.
