| Notes: | Whew! Ten miles is a long race. I did well as far as my personal expectations, which was to finish under 1:30:00, but in relation to the rest of the field, I was a total turtle! LOL I don't know how I faired against my age group, but I would venture to guess that I was near last. I ran hard though and through some major sub-sternal and right upper quadrant pains about 4 - 4.5 miles that I thought was going to take me out of the race. Thankfully there was a water station at mile 5 that I walked through to drank my water which got me through the pains. I tried to push my pace to be consistently around 8:30/mile or better, but I just could not go any faster. Tammy and Lindsey went with me which I was very thankful for. Calhouns were there, all three girls did really well, and Klemans. Ok, here's the splits:
Mile 1: 8:31
Mile 2: 8:24
Mile 3: 8:37
Mile 4: 8:32
Mile 5: 8:44
Mile 6: 9:10
Mile 7: 8:45
Mile 8: 8:37
Mile 9: 8:34
Mile 10: 8:23
Mid-race is where I struggled, but after that I felt better and did have negative splits the last 4 miles of the race which is cool! I'm still slow, but I finished it, even though I started thinking I would have to drop out at mile 4.5 - 5. |
