Overall I was fairly pleased with this race, aside from the obvious fact that pacing was to say the least, an issue. I wasn't going into this race expecting to perform like it was the middle of XC season. This was also my first competitive attempt at a race longer than 10k and I have to say I learned a few things. Such as, the amount I have for breakfast for an 8 or 10k didn't cut it for this race and I simply ran out of energy in the later half of the race. Also I didn't hydrate well enough to be able to run a race that is nearly an hour-long. If I had hydrated well and eaten a bit better breakfast and pace a bit better I think it would have been doable to run 51 flat. Lesson learned though.
