Notes

I changed the time that Garmin had to reflect the official chip time.

Whew! We were out the hotel door at 0500 & early in line to get on base, which made me happy. I was there. That was all I wanted. We waited in the car for some time until I decided it was time to start the 1 mile trek to the start. We joined the masses walking in. THIS time, however -- tee hee, I had my down coat, and a bag of supplies, AND a fantastic support person to take care of me. It was awesome. I probably could have allowed a bit more time to get there, from the car but it was fine. We found a spot for Mark to meet me by the USAA tent & I went to the port-a-potties. Got back to Mark, got all situated, reviewed the very important plan for the 10K to Half transition & then I lined up. The National Anthem played & then the moment we were all waiting for - the B-2 flyover! It looked great. How cool to be in a huge crowd (Full & 10K lined up and started tog. at 0730) all with the same spirit as the Spirit of Ohio flew over. We all clapped and cheered, and I noticed I wasn't the only one out there dabbing away tears! (Hard to start a race that way, btw). So, then a huge BOOM and we were off. I remembered the start from two years ago. It was all pretty cool. I got to thinking I'd better keep the pace up if I wanted to earn myself enough time to potty b/4 the Half. I had a good run & finished feeling fine. Mark was ready for me holding out my race belt with my Half bib on it while I took off the 10K bib, traded my little water jug for the big one & grabbed my Half snacks. Off to the potty & then to line up! YAY! I made it!!! Was also surprised I placed on this one since I wasn't running full out d/t still 13.1 yet to go.
