Notes
My first 1/2 marathon is in the books!
Body felt good, no issues.
If I would have done anything different, I would have run a 7:00 (or slower) in the WARR race last weekend; legs weren't back to 100% from that. Bad math, I thought for some wacky reason I had two weeks between the races. But, no complaints.
Being my first, and not knowing what to expect, and not having run my intended splits at 13.1 distance before, I planned a race around 1:35 time. That all changed, oh, about the time the race started! My corral (the first one, surprisingly!) started really fast. The first three miles were sub 1:30 pace. I had planned a reverse split; had it written on my hand and everything... oh well, I was selling myself short.
Ran into a fog about mile 7, evident in my mile splits.
By mile 9 I knew I'd slipped too much to make 1:30, but it was fun knowing I could've done sub-1:30; just need more practice.
Mile 11 started picking it up again.
Mile 12 kicked into a higher gear, and wished I'd done so at mile 11 as I still had fuel in the tank.
Just before mile 13, hooked up with another runner and we pushed each other in with a nice kick at the end.
