My 2nd 1/2 marathon, ever. Was a good race, gave it my all. Course was an out/back up/down Sanborn Park. I did pretty good with pacing most of the race, but didn't quite save enough. I had a plan of medium/hard for first 4, hard til mile 9, then giving it hell the rest of the way. By mile 10 I knew my plan was toast, I had no power left. I was on empty at mile 11. I didn't stop though, kept running through to the finish. Tactical error of a light dinner and lunch the day before the race.

Overall the body held up well. My quads are fried, as are the glutes. 7 blisters thanks to new shoes. :-) The gaiters worked great!

This is the last race of the year. I'll be transitioning to mostly biking and swimming, with moderate running, over the next 3 months in prep of Ice Breaker Triathlon. Will spend many of those biking miles in the Fremont hills, to help with my climbing power.

Britt also ran the 5k at Summit Rock. She did a ~42:50, and she's not happy about it! She twisted her ankle about 200' from the finish line. Got up, fell again. Got up, hobbled across the finish, then spent some time icing it in the Aid Tent. Tough girl! When she recounted the incident, she had tears of anger rolling down her face. That's my girl!!!
