Notes

Elevation: +1194 ft / -1193.5 ft. 97ºF This, actually, is two runs. I started this morning in Cameron by had to turn back after .5 mile with sharp knee pain. Went directly to the chiro, who promptly fixed me up. I went back out this afternoon to get a good trail run in during the heat of the day. It was friggin' hot. Wow. I haven't been on the trails in way too long, plus, I've been running in the morning when it's about 20º cooler. I've got to fix both of those things between now and Sept 15 (plenty of time!). Anyway, the heat reduced me to stopping and sucking air and walking from time to time; felt the same as when I was "running" at 12,500 feet earlier this summer, I kid you not. Good training, but not a lot of fun today. But the knee felt fine on run number 2.

Also, this was the first run in my new MT1010's and I must say they are awesome. NB has managed to make a shoe that offers enough protection and cushion for us mortals to run the "longer" ultra's in, while somehow achieving a truly barefoot feel. It's remarkable. It's a totally different shoe than the MT110, which I like. But I think I'll like the MT1010 WAY better. Highly recommended so far. Full review pending.
