Why the hell not?! It's totally my N+1 bike, now. I rode one once...fun as hell, not fast, but SUPER stable and elicits giddy giggles. Floats over snow and sand, which we have in some quantity in these parts year-round. The Gunner Crosshairs is a really nice bike. I have 2 friends who use them as their primary bikes, with slick tires for racing. Too bad they don't make them small enough to fit squatty little me. They're pretty much a no-go for anyone without at least a 32" crotch-to-floor inseam--mine is 30.

Not so fast. You can custom order your Crosshair geometry made to measure for an extra $350. It's a great deal for a custom frame. Then you can finish it off with a custom paint job. Check out this porn.
No doubt the Mukluk is fun. With my lifestyle I'd probably end up using it as often as my XC skis, about once a season.

Yeah, but that's still more $$ than my stock Redline...though less than a custom Seven, so there's that.

True, but that's an apples and oranges comparison. I was just saying you could get one to fit. (And don't they look nice?) Yeah, a lot less than a Seven. You could afford a pit bike with that savings.
I'm excited to get this thing up and running. I was considering the Surly or Soma cross bikes and by all measures the Gunnar should be superior.

Yeah...a Gunnar is a watered-down Waterford. Good stuff, for sure!
If you're squatty, what the heck am I? My inseam is 28". Makes finding a bike a right pain, although it does limit my choices pretty quickly. I'm still thinking of that Surly cross check....
We're the squatty cankle sisters!
The Cross Check is so nice. That was the first steel bike I ever rode...then our tandem (which I don't really like, but only 'cause of the view. DH is almost a foot taller than I, so I get a close-up view of the small of his back and his butt, heh. And I don't really like having no control over things on the bike), then my friend's Salsa Ala Carte (she also is the owner of the Cross Check). I am pretty sold.
Yeah, short inseams can limit things, especially if you're looking at CX bikes, because of the higher clearance with the beefier tires. Seems like a lot of CX bikes start at 48cm, when folks like us need something closer to 44. In my search for a 29er mountain bike I've been limited by my short legs, too. Our LBS really only carries 2 stock bikes that would work for me--a goofy women's Cannondale (looks like a Wal-Mart kids' bike. Their men's mtb frames don't come any smaller than M and I'd need a S, if they made it) and the El Mariachi.
Looky looky what showed up at our LBS yesterday:
Pretty soon I think I'm not going to be able to call myself a roadie. Come Spring I fear my running shoes will begin to collect dust, too.
That looks like a girls bike.
Well...it is! Though it's the very smallest size. It would probably look less girly in something bigger than an XS. The 2 (black with lime green decals) is much manlier looking, but also about $400+ more, IIRC.
Thanks...I think.
