3650 Miles in the Hurtlocker

May Racing Thread (Read 1824 times)

Race day today.  Vosseler Shield (hilly 5k XC race).  28:07 last year.  Initial hopes were for 26mins this year but I've woken up to find its been raining hard overnight which is likely to add a bit on.

    26.11

Very very happy with that.  SmileSmileBig grin

2 weeks to the next half marathon.  Bring it on.

      Bring it, indeed! Go Mandy!

Nice job Nads, even if you chased the wrong lead car.  How do you think you would have matched up to your PR without the confusion at the start?

Nice race, especially seeing the improvement from last year's time!

To be honest, its hard to say. I would not say it cost me a PR. My failure to PR is mainly a sign that I need much more hill work. That was a steep start. Steep. Like, at one point, I was amused. But it was a race, everyone had to run it, including the people who beat me.

Yup...DNF.  Think that is the first time for me.  Right hamstring caused me to pull up at about 4.5 mi.  Was feeling pretty good until I felt the pull and then what seemed like a softball size knot in my upper hammy.  Oh well, at least an Iowa Stater won the race.  It was either going to be me or him.  He finished in 56:10.  2nd was about a minute behind and 3rd was about 7 minutes.  We were cruisin along pretty good.

Hope this was just an odd thing that loosens up and not a lasting injury....

10mi on Mem Day weekend. Might as well hope to PR meaning 1:03:44.

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

I ran just under 8 pace for the first 7 or 8 miles and then fell off about 15 seconds. It was about 10 degrees to warm for me to be really comfortable at pace, but it was still nice. Considering my weight and that I raced almost 40 miles in 8 days, I'm happy.

Hm. That looks suspiciously like someone is running on the top of the world there, Mandy. I hope you all didn't have to run up to the top of the world from that city way down below it in the background.

Or the bottom of the world?

Yes we ran up from the city (approx 70ft above sea level) to the top of the course at about 460ft above sea level and then back down.  That photo was taken towards the end at about 230ft.
