Good morning dailies. Can I go back to sleep??
Step - Have a great 18.
Tom - Congrats on the PR!! Let's I hope I can do the same thing.
April - Sounds like a great morning. Enjoy it.
LRB - Can you switch the track work to another day? I guess treadmill works too.
c0de & Bruce - Good luck to us!
fla - You're run too early. I hope you get the weather you want.
kristin - I hope the ankle gets better soon. Heal up!
Baboon - Enjoy the spinning. That always hurts for me.
Sparker - Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow? Have a good one.
bill - Sounds like a beautiful run. I guess the snow hadn't piled on yet.
Dave - Good thing you got it done. One of these days I'll get off my sorry behind and go back to yoga.
Just ran across the street to Starbucks for a breakfast of wannabe champions, and it's starting to drizzle. Oh well, as long as it doesn't start to downpour, that's fine with me. I'm heading out for my 5k in a bit. 46* ok for a singlet?
What up dailies!
5.12 miles @ 9:26 pace. Trail/bike path hybrid. There was a 5k going on towards the downtown end of the bike path, and it always hurts to see that. It's like you're missing something or being left out.
I honestly could have thrown down some cash and grabbed my official sub 25:00, but I'll wait until May 4th and get a sub 24:00.
This young Jedi must be patient.

For a 5k - sure, if you are going to blazing fast!
No temp is right for me, no one wants to see me in one of those things. Now LRB, you know he's got the guns for it! I am guessing he would be going singlet maybe with arm warmers, and you will want to be following his lead as he is the self-confessed fashion ho.

.57 miles
9:18 pace
5:17 total time
I ran around the block and called it a day. Running on snow bothers my right achilles, and my left IT band. As bad as I wanted to do this quality workout (6 X 1000's "I" pace), there is just too much at stake long term to risk an injury at this point in the year.
In a weird irony, this is the second time I have attempted this workout, only to be foiled by weather.
As it is, I am scheduled to pace a 10k tomorrow so there will not be a long run this weekend either. So mileage wise, this will just have to be a cutback week. I am okay with that.

Bummer man. It REALLY needs to warm up already for you northern folk.

You know, due to just some really odd timing, I have run only one 5k in temps that were lower than 70 degrees. But knowing the runner that I am now, the above sounds about right!

Congrats, Tom!
Sorry, Rick. What a bummer. You did the best thing for you though.
12 miles done. It felt great. I haven't been fueling during my long runs this season, just to see what I can get away with. So far, 12 miles is easy peasy without anything but water. I did eat a banana and homemade muffin before I went out. My last mile was my fastest at 9:38 - almost a minute faster than the average of my run (10:35). I'll take it.
Top 'O the Mornin', Lads and Lasses! Enjoy your 18 miles, Shari! That's a lot of running! Up and taking in coffee and breakfast in preparation for the First Volunteer 5K in Ringgold, GA. I hope I have at least a little speed in these legs today! I'll be wearing green, with some orange trim to celebrate St. Patrick's Day (and to honor a good friend)!

Tom, I just noticed our PR's....wow. It's too bad we don't live close to each other lol.
Nicely done! I think you'll find from many on this forum that you can go up to 2 hrs without taking fuel or even water. I have gone up to 15 miles/2:15 with nothing. Maybe not the best for a race when you are going all out, but OK for a training run. And certainly water is a good idea when the temps get warmer.
It took us about 2:07 to run the 12. I'm trying for 13 next weekend. I don't mind experimenting with the potential to crash and burn on a training run. I'm thinking for my HM at the end of next month, I might stick to water and Gatorade without GU. I don't have a sensitive stomach; I just HATE chewing things while running (and I even have to "chew" GU to help it go down easier).
Ball of Fury
Happy Saturday everyone! Just finished my 12-mile long run for the week. I decided I would work on my discipline today and I think I did pretty well! I did a warm-up mile, and then 10 miles @ 8:55/mile (my LR pace per Hanson is 8:50-9:10), and then a cool-down mile. Here are my splits for the 10: 8:57, 9:01, 8:55, 8:55, 8:52, 8:54, 8:53, 8:52, 8:54, 8:55! I was pretty pleased considering the first half was fairly hilly and the second half was into the wind. I really wanted to turn around on the second half so I wouldn't be into the wind as much, but I kept with it. I also got pretty tired around mile 7-8, and I wanted to speed up and just get it over with, but then I thought about discipline and mental toughness and maintained pace. All in all, it was a great run in nice weather so can't really ask for more than that! DH and I are going downtown to check out the poker room at the new Horseshoe casino this afternoon, so that should be fun. Hope you are all having a great day!

Hello there Dailies!
I'm still debating what to do for a run today. My legs have been feeling heavy and tight all week. It's a cut-back week for me, so I was only planning on 8 miles for my long run, but I'm thinking now of just shortening it down even more to 5 or 6 miles to really give my legs a more true break this week. There also a little Irish Festival going in a nearby town in honor of St Pats, so DH and I are going to check that out. I'm hoping for green beer.
Have a great weekend everyone.
Life is good.
Hello Dailies.
