Return To Racing
The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here.
Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."
It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

Hi Pens.
I'm heading out for 8 miles with 8x100 strides then off to DD's swim meet. I'm also playing drums at a party tonight. I like getting paid to have fun.
Good luck to the racers!
Jerry, morning.
Jack, enjoy the drumming tonight.
7 easy M today.

Recovery run this morning. Then its football and baseball all day. Weather looks perfect for the Marathon. Almost as excited as the runners.
Jack, you rock !!!!
Morning! Stalking Kristin and she is past the 5.7 mile mat in her half.
Had a lovely day off yesterday. Ran my 13.1, went to lunch and got pedicures with DD (the foot and calf massage was perfect!), and then went on a walk with DH. Today it's a RD and packet pickup for my race tomorrow.
Jerry- I bet if you get gatorade on your shoes, you can just take the insoles out and throw them in the wash.
Jack- Enjoy the run and the gig later!
Bin- Have a good run!

Jack - You just have too damn much fun. Have a great day.
Bin - You're back to running again already? Good for you man.
Jerry - It is beautiful outside. I wish I could watch football all day, but that's not going to happen unfortunately.
Zel - Happy stalking, and keep us posted. Good luck in your race tomorrow!
AFM: I had an amazing 20 mile run this morning. I'm feeling great. I have 3 weeks. So, this is the last time I'll run that kind of distance before the marathon. Check it out. What do you think?

Sloooow.
GO KRISTIN GO!!! How exciting, I forgot it was today!
Thanks for starting, Jerry. Enjoy your recovery run.
Jack, hope your 8 miles goes well.
Bin, have a wonderful 7 tonight.
Zelanie, it's great you are having such a wonderful come back What was your longest run before your first half?
Awood, congrats on the 20 mile run! Those are seriously consistent splits.
Still no running for me. There is some hope for nice outdoor running weather late next week, I'm just scared of undoing all my work with a break again. I feel like I am making good changes, then I have a surgery, or get sick. Goal is still for Monday.
Awood: nicely done. I think you will do very well.
Lauren: what shoes did you get?
Zel: good luck!
Bin: glad you are feeling better.
Jerry: have fun tomorrow and enjoy the beer!
Jack - Asics DS Trainer, the price was right and they're similar enough to my beloved Elixirs.
CONGRATS KRISTIN !!! You did it.
Kristin kicked bootay! She looks pretty darn happy in her post-race pic too.
I'm jealous, don't have her info!
Congrats Kristin!
