Chasing Rainbows
Poor Scotty! LOL Thank goodness I don't have to answer to anyone for my running shoe purchases.
Jack, I was looking at those for my next trainers. Do you think they could hold up as a solid trainer for Marathon training? I would probably want something for my LRs.
I just picked up some Kinvara 3's on clearance as well but my plan is to run no more than 10% of my weekly mileage in them for a few months and then re-evaluate. I personally wouldn't use them exclusively for marathon training but I would use them for some of the training and if that goes well, run a marathon in them.

Anyone else interpret this as a challenge? I say we do it.

Too funny, Scotty.

20,000 miles behind me, the world still to see.
How about these socks? I love them because they go with everything! Just like that headband.
Who says you can't combine stripes and polka dots?

My problem is that I like quarter-socks and not the long ones or those low-rider ones. Can't find too many multi-colored quartersocks.
Love that headband though!

OK, got my 5 trail miles in this morning.
And, I got not one but two pair of new running shoes. I bought Saucony Kinvora 4 shoes for racing, and a pair of Nike Zoom Elite for training. My favorite racing shoes, my old NB 870 V1, are about worn out and aren't nearly as stiff as they used to be.

Nice shoes Tom!
A little over 8 miles at GMP in the books this morning. Picked the first strawberries of the season in the garden today and put up some herbs to dry. All of our tomato plants are covered in blossoms ad I can't wait from those tomatoes to start coming in! Nothing better than a vine-ripened tomato on a BLT.
Life is good.

Well I got my 45 minutes of elliptical in. Some days you are the pigeon, and some days you are the statue. Today I was the statue. Ugh...45 minutes of struggle. Good news is that it pretty much guarantees a good workout tomorrow.

Talk dirty to me baby! I love a good tomato, one where I can eat it right off the vine like an apple!
Boon, your analogy reminds me of a time I was arguing with my girlfriend on a pay phone, which happened to be under a billboard. Birds may be classified as cold blooded animals, but pigeon shit is warm. :'- (
And yes, she won the argument lol!
Man, that was a hard workout. I masochisticly decided to turny fartlek run into an uphill fartlek run. Legs are dead. There were a lot of uphills.
rather be sprinting

Lifting PRs: bench press 125lb, back squat 205 lb, deadlift 245lb
Had a great time at the Tigers game, there is nothing like baseball in the sunshine. Seats 4 rows behind the dugout, although that meant 3 hours baking in the (cloudless) sunshine on the first 80+ degree day of the year. Too much too soon - wasn't I just complaining 3 days ago about having to run in 40 degrees with 25 mph wind? We like to go directly from winter into summer here.
Some late-game drama too. Tied going into the 9th, Astros score 2 in the top. Tigers load the bases in the bottom for Miguel Cabrera, who hits a long fly ball that is caught right at the top of the wall. So close.
Note to self: drink beers after running, not before. Went for a run when I got home, kind of groggy getting into it. And still getting used to the heat. 9 miles at 8:45.

We put in tomato plants every year; what you grow at home should be classified as a completely different food than what you buy in the store.
Dead legs. Why? Probably because of the kettlebell swings, pistol squats, and deadlifts I did right before running. Must remember, deadlifts mean dead legs afterwards, I guess.
Everyone is different, but I personally would not be doing so much leg work during the running season. In fact, I am not doing any now and you could not pay me to.
As for running and lifting on low calories, it can be done so long as you include complex carbs like rice, grains, bread, pasta and those things in your daily allotment of 1200 calories. Once you adapt to that, 1600 is more than enough for maintenance.
Low calorie and low carb while running and lifting however, is a recipe for disaster.
