Great job, LRB! Congrats on winning the 10K!

Somebody had to win, might as well be me.

      Repeat!  Outstanding!

Cop should have been yelling "Beast coming through, move!"

" It was during this period that I alternated between thinking about anything other than the race, and thinking about nothing at all."

Love it, you had the mental game and the endurance game to match.  Great job, Rick.

I remember in my 10k,  when you came & ran the last mile or so with me -- you said "nice pace", I replied "thanks", and you snapped "don't talk!!".

This made me laugh out loud!

That was a really good post about the walkers and slower runners Dave.  God bless 'em, they had as much right as I did and it really was not their fault.  If they ever stumble onto the running forums though they'll learn.  lol

Thanks everyone!  This is one of those rare days when you feel good about a race.  I am going to enjoy it because they don't come along often!

Oh shit! What did I say yesterday?

Oh shit! What did I say yesterday?

I can see you hitting sub-40 in the 10k. You already know how to get there. Just keep training smart!

It was actually Thursday but you were on it!

I also ran a 38:57 10k last year. That was followed by 1:25:20 for the half, 38:08 for the 10k, and then you know what happened in Chicago. It means you will follow the same course

Sheeit, you killed that last 10k at the Chicago Marathon; 6:45, 6:34, 6:29, 6:24, 6:28, 6:22.  I can tell you right now that shit ain't happening!  lol

I am just taking it one step at a time at this point.  But yes, I am dreaming big.

Hey now, you don't WIN a race and not put that detail in your RR.  Congrats!  And especially congrats for hanging in there when the going got tough.  Sometimes you do just have to think about "nothing at all" except maintaining forward progress.

Sounds like a bit of poor organization with having the lead 10k racers collide with the 5K run/walkers and the oblivious police "escort," but you obviously dealt with that well.

                    Life is good.

You really give me inspiration that I can still improve for many more years to come.

Awesome Little Runner Boy.  You have really bounced back from the bench early last year and in a strong way.  Daniels is really working for you.  You are such a positive influence and in my opinion are at the top of the class.  So looking forward to your marathon.  Cross train and stay injury free.

                          And there it is........

Translation ---- "Rick, man, you're as old as the hills & that's an insult to the hills!"

Seriously, that's fast as greased lightning!  And, yes, I'd have shouldered & elbowed a few people myself. (And have when stupid people get stupid in a race.  You can't fix stupid)

                          Congrats!!!

                          Barking Mad To Run

Congrats on your race!  Sorry about the 'human brush" clogging the path at that one point.  I don't get RDs sometimes.  If there are multiple distances in the event, I don't know why the don't 'stagger' the start times, letting the longer distance folks go out first.  That is beginning to happen a lot here now in San Antonio, RDs are getting smarter about it.  I recently did a race where the 10K folks started 15 minutes ahead of we 5K folks - giving the lead speedy runners plenty of time to speed away from we 5K folks - and that seemed pretty smart to me, I didn't see any of the 5K folks interfering with the other race distance folks.  I wonder why all RDs just don't go ahead and do this.

Great job Rick, you killed it. Smile
