WELCOME TO THE DAILIES THREAD!
Anyone and everyone can post your runs, cross-training, abdominal work, rest days, race plans, training questions, etc.. The only stupid question is the one you did not post. There’s a great mix of beginners and veterans, runners and walkers, and maniacs and returners, from injury to running. We're all a little crazy here, too! While this thread is a terrific source of motivation for runners and serves as outstanding accountability, you’ll quickly find this remarkable group to be highly supportive of all life experiences. So, come on in, put your feet up, and stay a while (not literally)! And whoever is up first is welcome to start the thread and we definitely keep some weird hours here.
Go.

PONCHO TAQUERIA, MUCHAMBOS! 8 easy miles last night. More of the same today. No Red Sox game tonight, so perhaps I'll actually get some sleep.

This was my second consecutive Tuesday run-fail. Last week my Tuesday run was cut short because I underdressed for the temperatures.
That wasn't the problem today. I barely slept last night due to my sinuses continually filling up, so with nearly no sleep, I had already decided to swap today's scheduled 9 for Wednesday's 6. Then when I got out there, I was super-sluggish, heavy legs, and my digestive system wasn't happy.
Why? Could be drainage from my sinuses, could be a stomach virus, could be that the little "bite-sized" candy bars I had yesterday actually DID have gluten, even though the regular sizes of those same bars are OK, or any combination thereof. Ended up with just 4.34 at a 10:39 average pace - a full minute per mile slower than I averaged for 8 hilly miles on Sunday.
If my stomach feels better later, I'll do my strength training class. If not, I may call it a sick day and go back to bed.
20,000 miles behind me, the world still to see.
Feel better, Shari.

Sounds like you are sicker than you think. Take the rest day!

Sorry to hear Step. Get some rest and feel better!!
had some issues getting up this morning. I went to bed way earlier than I usually do but apparently I still didn't want to wake up. I did eventually drag my lazy ass out of bed and get on running clothes but by the time I got out the door I only had time for a 20 minute run. Figured 20 minutes was better than no minutes so got 1.8 miles. Meh.

Oh yes! Hurricane Mo's! Mo would be my aunt.
Hope your hip feels better!
Good morning! I won't make the group track workout this week, so I made up my own. I'm thinking that as my race gets closer, I want longer intervals. So last night I ran 4 x 1000 at Interval pace with 0.35 recoveries. Went pretty well. I was outside in the dark instead of on the track, so I had dark, and little hills, and leaves, and cars to contend with. My pace was a bit slow for all 4, but considering the obstacles, I'll take it. My 4th one was the fastest, too.
Hope that everyone is having a good morning!
Thanks Jess. We will try to get there.
Hip did really well on my run today. Of course I discovered today I am out of kinesio tape. I decided I'd tape it today. Not easy to do to yourself but I managed. I had two pieces left so I must order more. I do have some leuko tape so I can use that in the interim. It isn't the same. And is stronger so have to use a special tape under it but I will manage for 2 days until my kinesio tape arrives.
Glad the hip behaved, Marjorie!
I <3 Leukotape. It fixed my knee.
Barking Mad To Run
Watching the local weather report last night for today's forecast....WTH?!!! 90 degrees for a high today! Mother Nature is still messing with us! So got up and ran early this morning around the university campus. I started at 6:15 a.m., but even so, it was still already 75 degrees and very humid. I did the route of the Diploma Dash 5K - the annual fundraiser 5K for the university - and decided to push myself a bit. Ended up finishing the 5K route in 32:08, so not too bad for an old dog - and much better than my 40 minute 5K races over last weekend. Of course, today there were no crowds and I was not stopping to take photos either, so that might have helped me being more speedy. My last 1/2 mile it started raining on me, which actually felt really nice by that time.
Today is October 29th. This day in history....in 529 BC, Cyrus The Great, King of Persia, declared the first charter of human rights in the world. In 1792, Mount Hood (Oregon) is named after the British naval officer Alexander Arthur Hood by Lt. William E. Broughton who spotted the mountain near the mouth of the Willamette River. In 1955, Emile Zatopek runs world record 15 mile (1:14:01) & 25,000m (1:16:36). In 1994, the National Museum of American Indians opens in New York City. In 2008, Delta Air Lines merges with Northwest Airlines, creating the world's largest airline. In 2012, Hurricane Sandy makes landfall in New Jersey.
Today's holidays
National Oatmeal Day - how do you like your oatmeal? I just put my instant oatmeal in a bowl, add a bit of water, stir, cook in the microwave and I'm done. Very bland, no additives. Gail just rolls her eyes.
Hermit Day - A day to be by yourself and get away from it all. Unless you're a Herman's Hermit, of course....then go out and sing to a crowd! How many here are old enough to even remember Herman's Hermits?
National Cat Day - Pamper your feline friend today. As if they don't get pampered enough, right?
Checklist Day - Check it once, check it twice, make sure you have everything!
"Do what you can, with what you have, where you are." Theodore Roosevelt
Uffda
I hope you feel better! Sounds like some rest would do you good.
I did take an URD yesterday, so I was eager to get back at it this morning. 6 miles this morning got me back on track. It felt good to get some miles in.
Have a great day everyone!
