Top 'O the World!

I can't get to the couch! I'm still in the chair in front of the computer Tongue

If I get to the couch - I'm double doomed. Where is Tim-BO this morning?? He is late reporting his non-running!!

Leslie: Thanks for the update on whale snot...and speaking of whales.... An Australian man was caught by surprise when a large whale whacked him lightly on the head with its tail as he unknowingly scooted over it while kite surfing. David Sheridan was riding his board at Valla Beach on the northern coast of New South Wales state when he noticed a large shadow in the water in front of him. Sheridan said "scared the life out of me...man, at first I thought it was Rosie O'Donell." Deb:
a 10 minute walk, 3.16 mile run, 9:39 pace, max was 7:45. hr a little high. 20 on the elliptical, 2 sets on the weight machines, stability ball reverse crunches side planks & russian twists. stretched.
Wow! For somebody that's a little under the weather, this is sort of astounding...well done! Billy the Bob is fine...but old. Last week his groomer gave him a bath, trim, etc. (she calls it a "wash & fluff"). When I asked how he did, she said "for such an old dog, he's got the quickest teeth i've ever seen". Twocat: You've been doing lots of traveling lately...this means that your biz is still good (?)...certainly glad to hear it. Tammy...Tramps...go get 'em this week-end! Tet:
For the record, official nonrunners anonymous membership requires 30 days of either regular or "crutch" nonrunning but, like the 50-states marathon club. trial membership is available upon accumulating ten days of nonrunning as long but must be coupled with regular posting of the progress for all to see.
It's amazing that you've come up with this....all that non running has definately sharpened your brain. I'm voting for you in 4 years...for something. Enke: I can only sympathize...I understand back pain is just rotten. Carolyn:
we're supposed to get snow tonight and tomorrow.
Looking like a great ski season ahead...but with the economy like it is, I wonder how biz is gonna be at the resorts. Amy: Certainly glad you've jumped on top of the potentially inferior ICD situation...you know, a few years ago, this was a "Law & Order" episode..I think the show had to do with inferior pacemakers. Tammy:
So, I'm just warning you . . . if you drive around town drinking coffee, you might just be mistaken for a drug trafficker.
Hah! I've suspected my mother-in-law for some years now... Rest day today...I ran Mon-Thurs and plan to run again tomorrow...that's enough for me. DickyG

Ummm...sorry...I have no idea why it posted twice...

thanks dickyg, I think I learned it from megamaniac Stevie Ray. . . . but I have no idea either why I posted on yesterday's daily too, . . . about how much I admire taper'n timmy. Today - taper day #20 on a beautiful perfect nonrun rainy day now with only nine to go before birthday day run with virtual tammy. Hope everyone can join in with a few miles for princess hot tub goddess too, including enke and evanika, but not the other members of our boomer taper team. <>timby/twocat)>>>Big grin

Nice pics, Brewte. (I'm still laughing at that.)
WRFB, you looked like a drowned rat in those race photos! And Tramps, I loved that line yesterday, too!
I’ve achieved a zen-like tranquility about the weather. It will be warm (mid-upper 60s), humid (100%), blustery, and soggy. I will run. I will be warm, humid, blustery, and soggy. Be the rain.
Tramps, good luck with that "be the rain" thing! Big grin Tammy, your "driving while Hispanic" comment yesterday cracked me up. Although it's probably too true to be really funny. And if coffee is a sign of drug trafficking, lots of us are in big trouble. (Although I've heard drug trafficking is pretty lucrative work...) I'm taking a rest day today. After looking at the weekly weather forecast, today looked the worst. It's about 20 degrees and snowing lightly. Actually wouldn't be too bad out there, but it's supposed to be better this weekend (40's) and I need a rest day anyway.

I hammered down the trail, passing rocks and trees like they were standing still.

No run for me today. Just drinking my coffee . . . and we all know what that means now! I just love these daily reminders I get that count down to turning yet another year older Roll eyes I hope my son doesn't say to me on my birthday what he said to my dad on his birthday two weeks ago. He calls up my dad and says "I wanted to call and congratulate you on having another birthday" . . . of course, at 8, he didn't really get the mixed message in that one but we all got a laugh out of it. Tomorrow's the Half Marathon and I get to see my friend Econo too! Smile

WRFB pictures remainds me of how unconfortably wet we all were at the Portland marathon. http://www.racephotos.net/RunnerDetails.asp?nRunnerID=651527 tet, i knew that you are the taper king, but I had no idea you are a poet also. I have no worries about timbo, enkiephelin, erika and tet making it to the end of this challenge...it is twocat I am worrying about. Holly, I am with you about the weight...it seems like the more I run the less I loose weight Confused. I tried on the dress I will be wearing tomorrow at the gala I am attending and...it is too tight on me Sad tramps, you will do great...just start cursing at us when you feel too unconfortable...hey you can curse at me from miles 18 to 20 ok? I am sure others will send you their offer as well.

Ah... Tet, I'm back at work and it's -2 outside my window. It was 14 at home though, so that's quite a deep inversion for this early in the year. Looks like it would be IWRC later today, but I brought my bag for an after-work trip to the gym. Think I'll try the pool running today; haven't done that since last weekend. Ah, the exercise-mode variety is astounding when you're not running. But I'd much rather be running. Sad Mariposai! I don't think you could take a bad picture. Yours are wonderful, you look like you're going to a party! Good luck this weekend Tramps, and you too, Tammy! What's your goal? (yes, both of you!) Joining Tammy for another cup of her drug of choice...

OK, I call Mi 21, and Tramps, I prefer to be called a *bleeping* running wannabe, OK?

DickyG, thanks! . Smile. that's my Billy. Mtnchk, better stay inside with that coffee... Brewte.. I'd missed that. thanks Evryday. my first official 40/0 day (thanks again Twocat) went a little better than yesterday. slept a little better, & was just easier on myself. I warmed up more slowly, did more movement prep (Mark Verstegen) & was conscious instead of just in a hurry. So, my 3.11 mile run which was really a nonrun, was almost pain free! afterward, (10ish , 9ish, 9ish) 15 min. ellipticalling, 15 min. biking, 1 set on the weight machines, & other stuff.. back lifts, rows, etc. ran out of time for stab. ball. stretched pretty well. have decided it would be a whole new approach to try to not be injured. I noticed recently that i have a hard time stopping before something hurts. seems like if nothing does, then I should keep going. may need to adjust that viewpoint. back to my coffee in it's brown paper bag. need to go look at wet pictures.

                            Marathon Maniac #957

Mariposai! I don't think you could take a bad picture. Yours are wonderful, you look like you're going to a party!
I agree - it looks like you're smiling in every one! You wimmin are being an influence on me (not sure what adjective to insert here)....I'm heading over to the coffee pot now...

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

                              dg.

great wet pictures! Holly, I meant to ask how you are after your nonrest day? Gordon I've gotta run a marathon before I can hit the couch? oooookay.
