For those of you who are new, this is the 40/40 thread, for people who are over 40 years old who run 40 miles/week or more. We give Free Passes to those who come really close or try really hard...

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."
Thanks, Holly.
Back in the saddle again.
Be safe. Be kind.
Thanks Holly! This week should be similar to last week except a couple of runs will be harder. If I feel like I did at the end of my 20-miler, 21 should be no problem. I'm happy with my training but a little concerned that I might be peaking too early.

Thanks Holly. This thread really, really has helped me to stay on track in the last couple of weeks since I have no race to train for until April!

The pain that hurts the worse is the imagined pain. One of the most difficult arts of racing is learning to ignore the imagined pain and just live with the present pain (which is always bearable.) - Jeff

Didn't make is this week, 39.6 for the week.
Not too sound all dramatic or anything...but I'm going to step back from running for a few weeks...today's marathon was a goal from an incident I had in Oct 2009 and other than running a few more miles to get to 2,000 for the year which is last goal I set in Nov 2009, it is time for some introspection on what I want from my running.

Prince of Fatness
My head was ringing all week from either a cold or allergies or both. I took Monday off thinking that it would help but it didn't seem to make a difference. So I ran every day since them ... just easy.
