Its’s tough working two days in a week, but someone has to do it

4 miles with DW and Tiny Elvis yesterday evening- 60 degrees and sun shining, tough to beat

    something similar today

qotd: where is your state headed in the pandemic?  I believe our governor will relax things a bit on Friday, that’s when our stay at home order expired. Sad that testing is so far behind where it should be Sad

Woo-hoo! Just got an email that the hospital system i work for will be putting several hundred people on furlough, and some will be those working from home. For at least 8 weeks. I am hoping to be one of them. They will continue to pay my benefits, and I will make unemployment + 600. And it is summer. I'm all over it...and i will plan some five day backpacking trips. It pays to do stuff other people can easily do.

Planning a walk tonight, maybe try a short run...but damn...it is cold out.

Qotd: I live in Michigan. If anything relaxes I will be surprised. I do wish they would open outdoor  garden centers

9.5+ miles this morning.  Felt good to get up early and get out.  Trying to hit my mileage goal for the month.  I need to stay consistent.  Still no word on Laurel Highlands 70. I think they are waiting until the last possible moment.  There is some hope that restrictions will lift but no actual indication at this point.

moonlight - DW is on unemployment and she has yet to see the $600 on top of the normal UC amount. She has been paid 2x thus far.

QOTD: PA governor extended the stay at home another week (until May 8th).  I think they are at a point to take it week to week.  I feel like that is a good approach and they should be lifting restrictions slowly.  But what they actually looks like, I have no clue.

        Have a great day!

My favorite day of the week is RUNday

Sunday got in a nice long run. Only saw 2 other people on horses and their dog. Thought it would be around or even over 20 miles but when we were done it was 18.5 miles. Many years ago, I would have run around for an extra 1.5 miles, nowadays it's "fuck it, that's fine". Oh how times change.

TM run today due to strong winds and driving rain. After about an hour a breaker went off and TM and TV powered off and it really jarred me. I reset the breaker and it popped again. When TM was unplugged it was fine, so maybe problem with TM that I'll have to diagnose.

QOTD:  Non life supporting businesses are to remain closed until May 8th. I can only see emergency care patients and I have to really screen them for additional testing like MRI's.  Testing in my area is still taking 6-7 days for results.

          This is so true.

Took the dogs out to Green Lane last night for a slow 4 miles at the Lady's pace. At one point I thought some walkers were going to catch us as the Lady was stopping so much to smell the roses. LOL, I leashed her up and made her jog a bit after that. She was just doing things at her own pace. Crowded out there last night at the trailhead. Sunny and mild, brings out the quarantiners. Lot of them seemed to be younger crowd, high school/college? A group of them were smoking weed down at one of the viewpoints. Hope none went over the cliff.

Typical 2 mile dog wog this morning and at lunch knocked out 6 miles up at the local trail. Grey and damp with on/off light rain showers. The weather kept the quarantiners away, and I had the trail to myself today. Will run/jog a few road miles with the dogs later.

QOTD: Seems our new cases are tracking down but if you read the headlines you won't see that. They always say "numbers up" when of course until we go to 0 new cases a day the numbers will go up. Duh. Stay at home extended to May 8 like Dr Jamie says. Plus now we are required to wear masks in public places. At least they are not extending a month at a time now.

Warden - Seems we all need to head to MT to grab a beer and burger OUT at a pub. I bet your state would love to see an influx of east coasters!

In dog beers, I've only had one.

I might be wrong, but I think we’re a wee bit off of pubs opening, we do have several breweries that are making home deliveries though

No run yet today. Thinking about yoga instead due to some aches and pains. Front is moving through so also have thunderstorms, high winds and cooling temps to deal with. Maybe I'll jump on the erg.

Moon-- good deal if you can get it! fingers crossed for you.

qotd: Well, numbers are moving flat to slightly downward, but there's a long way down to zero, or even low double digits. We're on a stay at home until the 15th, masks are mandatory in stores, public transportation.

Went to the bank yesterday and the lobby was closed but the drive-though has 2-way video system.  So I have my surgical mask and sunglasses on thinking it would be fun to pull up at the bank looking like a bad guy. Teller looks in her screen and say "Hey Doc, how are you?"  So much for being a masked robber in a small town.

run...if masks are mandatory where are people getting theirs?  I've been seeing a lot offered for sale on FB but have buffs I can use.  Haven't heard anything from work what the process will be and if they'll provide or not.  Since we have 2 casinos I'm curious as to the opening and day to day operation going forward.  I only have to go in when we are doing an audit there or a cash count.  Not sure how they'll handle to customers.  Fun times.

Ordered a shirt from the Life is Good line where it is a trail runner in the mountains and the caption just reads "social distancing". Seems appropriate.  Ran 20. 5 on Sunday over in the Mississippi river bluffs in Iowa. Yellow River state forest which has been on my explore list for years and with everything shut down in Wi. it seemed like a good time for it. Beautiful country and hardly saw a soul.  Followed that up with a nice hike yesterday with DW and a 7mi run this morning on the IAT.

So like everyone else my plans and calendar has been totally destroyed. They extended the border closing into Canada for another month so that wrecks a long canoe trip. I did get a permit to go into the Boundary waters to try for some lake trout but that's in doubt too. Not all that big of fan of the Boundary waters anyway but it would still give me a partial fix on my canoeing addiction.

QOTD--We are gonna be closed up thru Memorial day at this point but it sounds like our Gov is starting to cave in to the right wingers and there is talk about relaxing some things. We currently are at 78 people infected for 100,000 residents which is very good. So our current plan seems to be working. Yes, we're all frustrated but what's the real hurry to open things up. Go slowly and safely.  Just 7 weeks ago we had no deaths in the country and now we're over 40,000. Another week or two and we'll surpass the death total for the Viet Nam war.

Diane - seems like people are making masks all over the place on Facebook and Nextdoor.  One of my friends made me a few.  I don't think a buff is going to do much since they're so thin and you have to pull it over your head to remove it.

                        Running is dumb.

Harrier - I emailed the DNR about a campsite I have reserved for Memorial Day weekend and they told me state parks were supposedly re-opening May 1st.  I'll believe it when it happens.

Mandy I hate to buy some only to be told that I can't wear them at work.  So far I've only been to one place and that was to buy horse feed.  DH does all the grocery shopping since he still goes into work.

Yes, this. I made a few for us, out of old tshirts and bandanas. I think the evidence shows that if you are sick, you send fewer contaminated droplets all over while wearing a mask over not having a mask, thus decreasing the potential spread to others. Whatever. I'm more concerned about the embecile 'protestors'. Normally, I'd say natural selection should take care of them, but they'll probably go to the hospital once they get sick, then our health care providers, who are working incredibly hard and endangering their lives and families*, are exposed due to their stupidity.
