Big's Backyard Tuesdaily (Read 14 times)

Sandy-2

In case you're curious, this "run" started at 7:00am central time Saturday.  At the top of each and every hour they have to start a 4.166667 mile loop. If you don't start the loop on the hour, you're out.  As I write this there are three guys still going , they just finished their 75th loop, 312.5 miles). Crazy.  Here are the live results, and here's a live video feed.

I had one of my 5am meetings so I'll run after work today.

    qotd: pass.

Good morning folks (or afternoon). Chowder and I got in just under 4 in Rock Creek this morning. Still pretty green in the woods, but it reminded me that fall is my favorite season in the woods. Color is usually peak here at the beginning of November so we have time.

Sandy-- I saw that started but forgot to follow it. THanks for the links

AT-- just saw your post from the weekend. Congratulations on the continued healing and 'runs'.

Jamie (if you're reading)-- sorry to hear about the conditions and results for Oil Creek. Are you running Stone Mill? I'll be at my usual AS (I think).

qotd: Fall where you are? See above for me. Some trees are just starting to change but overall, it's a few weeks away. However, it was 42 degrees this morning when I walked the dog. warmed up pretty quickly though

All three have now completed 76 "yards", which passed the old best of 75 by Karel Sabbe of Belgium last October.

              05/25 - What the Duck 12-Hour

A few years ago, I participated in a spinoff of the Big's Backyard.  There are a lot of them now.  The course was 6 miles one way, and we had 1.5 hrs (?) to finish get through the 6 miles.  I did 4 revolutions and called it a day.  I didn't care for the format, but I know a lot of people love it.

6.60 predawn miles - which started at 4:30 so I'd have time to finish, get ready for work, follow The Hub to drop is work truck off for repair, get him back home, and then get to work on time.  Threw in 8 30-sec hill repeats at the end of the run for good measure.

I have a meeting with my financial advisor this afternoon (her office manages my office's 401k plan).  She's always much more optimistic about me being able to retire before I die than I am.

QOTD:  Fall has it here.  It's quite chilly in the a.m. and not warming up as much throughout the day.  I found a bulky, comfy cardigan at Goodwill over the summer and plan to spend a lot of time in it this fall and winter.

Apparently John Stocker of the UK ran 81 yards back in June at the Suffolk Backyard Ultra. That's 337.5 miles in 3 days and 9 hours.

Ran 4 this morning. It was about 50 degrees. So, it felt great.

QOTD: SE Louisiana. The temps have cooled off significantly, but they are starting to creep back up later today.

                  Well now . . . I'm feeling a little less pumped with my 30 min of core/ST after work . . .
