So, today is day 5,000 in my streak. I had high hopes for today. Originally thinking maybe I would take the day off and do a self-supported 50K run. But then I decided to do a HM in November so I've been training for that and didn't want to kill that training by doing a 50K.
So then I planned to do 5.000 miles today, but unfortunately during yesterdays run I got some bad pain in my left shin which feels a lot like the pain I had after my HM series in June which turned out to be a stress fracture. I'm hoping it's not that but I was only able to struggle through a semi-painful mile today.
Maybe I'll shoot for a 51K run on day 5100.

Sorry to hear you had a celebrate day 5000 with some pain. Hope you can get healthy for Nov.
That is an awesome streak though.

How are you, Jeff? I check in on the forum every now and then and saw this post from last month. Sorry about your milestone day. Was it a stress fracture?

Hi, I'm doing a bit better now. Turns out it was not a stress fracture but the tendons in my lower shin/ankle were inflamed and rubbing against each other. I've been in PT for about a month now and it is feeling much better. I'm also doing a REALLY slow increase right now - just 2-3 miles per week so it will take a while to get back to my normal mileage (only up to about 14 miles this week). But I think it is healed and I'll keep up with the PT exercises which is a lot of strengthening of my weak areas (calves and hips) and stretching to increase ankle flexibility.
But - no pain for three weeks right now so I'm happy with that.
Hi Jeff - Glad you’re on the mend and getting back to pain free running! Sometimes those soft tissue injuries are harder to heal but sounds like you’re on a good trajectory!
