If you recently ran a sub-20:00 5k and you've completed numerous runs over 10 miles, I think you'll easily break 1:50:00. And it looks like the final half mile is all downhill!
Best of luck to you both. Pass on my regards to Alden.

I think I’ve settled on my race schedule for the remainder of the year. DR, you’re not going to be thrilled by this decision, but I will likely not race at either of the Solomons 5Ks in November or December. My reason for missing the Jingle Bell race has more to do with time than money, even though time equals money… The Jingle Bell race takes place on a crucial weekend. I will have very little time after that weekend to study for the upcoming final exams, so I don’t think I can afford to give up an entire Friday evening and a large chunk of Saturday for the race. Instead, I’ll be doing the BRRC 5 mile XC meet on 11/8, and the Celtic Solstice 5 miler on 12/20 (weekend after finals). I think Val and I will do a Thanksgiving race only if we go down to Centreville. Otherwise, I’ll be happy with a Thanksgiving day long run. Looking at the races at my disposal next year, it may not be until next year’s Get Fit! Race that I even take part in another 5K!

A scheduling conflict has arisen that throws the Step By Step 5k into doubt, leaving me grasping for another 5k race in early to mid November. And then I saw this on the CBRC site today: 11/15 (Sat) - Father Andrew White 5K - Leonardtown, MD Do you have any additional info on this race, Perry? If there's indication that it's going to be a legitimately run event, I think I'm doing it!

Not sure about it -- noone at club meeting this past Mon had time to volunteer to be race director for Fr Andrew White run, so not sure it is going to happen. Of course the Hughesville 5K/10K is being run tomorrow morning in Hughesville. (We're not attending.)

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

If it does happen, will the course be similar to the Hospice route? Check out the picture on the front page of the CBRC site! http://cbrcmd.org/

Are Adubb and Perry prepared for this weekend? I think both of you could be contenders to hit or break 3:30!

My running has dropped off more than I planned -- I took an easy week 3weeks before, b/c someone pointed out to me that I'd not done a cut-back in a while -- then have been only running sporadically since. Might jog a bit today and/or tomorrow. I think I'm ready. Haven't decided what to do about possible coldness -- might try wearing a trash bag (as a discardable outer layer) -- but I've never tried that before.

Good luck at the race. I've only heard of people wearing trash bags at the starting line to keep warm as you're standing in a huge pack of people. It's useful for when it takes several minutes to reach the start. Then you just tear it off when you start running. Another option could be to go to Target (or a thrift store) and buy the cheapest thermal or sweat shirts you can find, and just toss those aside after you've warmed up during a race.

I did see a couple people wearing garbage bags. I just left my long-sleeved shirt on (& gave it to Crystal after abt 10mi) -- and left my long pants & jacket on until the last minute before the start. This is cool (list purporting to rank marathon course relative speeds) http://www.arrs.net/TB_Mara.htm but in the end, convenience trumps everything for me, and I'm driving to LPRM the morning of, and not flying to Berlin or anywhere else.

Has there been anymore word on whether or not the Father Andrew White 5k on 11/15 will actually take place?

Well, it looks like it really is happening, and although it's the Father Andrew White 5k, it's taking place at ... St. Mary's Ryken!

Oh ya, after you asked I went and asked Sierra, and I think she got that info posted -- then I forgot to come back here and post. I have heard that they're running into Leonardtown instead of using the Ryken CC course.
