A great event - Calico and Joyce do a real good job. Basically 11 miles out all up (except 1 huge 2/3 mile plunge) then return, then do it again, then out 3.2 and back so 22-22-6. I came in 5th overall and 1st w/in 40-49 age group. Faded the last few miles even the down but legs where gone. Mental focus stayed whole time mostly. Got a bad side cramp for about 5 miles from 35-40 or so. The wind was brutal the second half of the race - on the downs but 25-30 sustained so it felt like the ups almost. The elevation went form 4500-6000 so for sure felt the thinner air too.
