Notes

Finally! I got a somewhat early start and had enough time to do 5 laps. 32 miles out here is brutal. The temperature went from 68 F to 76 F during the ride. It didn't feel warmer toward the end. I was pretty tired and probably didn't notice. Lap one went smooth with and average of 11.1. Surprised I managed to keep it at 11 for the day. Lap two was a beast. I included the gas line climb just to add a little more punishment. Lap three started OK. Then I came up on a guy who had found a baby owl in the path and wanted to use my phone. I called the WWC, then he called. I finally got on my way after about 15 minutes. That was the only rest I had. I was stopping at the gravel entrance for 30 seconds to check my time, average, and get a drink. At the end of lap three I went to the car to get another bottle. I didn't stop at all between laps four and five. I didn't know what time it was and after the delay with the owl guy I felt pressed for time. The main loop climbs on the last lap were working on me. That's usually not the case.

I wore the new SIDI's today. Maybe that's what kept me going. Third fastest average ever on the MTB bike with the top four fastest being at the WWC. Second longest ride with the longest being 40+ miles at Lake Norman State Park.
