Notes

Run with Kyle. I don't typical stop this far under 7 minute pace but we ran the sac and fox trail to the end and back and the sign clearly states it is 7.2 miles. So we added on a half mile when we got back and called it 15. I feel good about that. The run felt really good. Not really any knee soreness and just some toe pain the last 10 minutes. Kyle and I had some really good conversations the entire time that made this run fly by. It is nice that we are both in good enough shape again to do runs like this.

Injury Note: I saw the orthopedic doctor that works with the Iowa Track and Cross Country teams this morning and he confirmed that the sesamoid is definitely dead and recommended surgery as well. He said he has had other runners do the surgery and come back just fine. He then gave me the earliest available date for surgery which is Oct 14th. I was a little surprised how soon that is and am currently debating if that is the best option or if I should wait a little longer.

Thanks for the update Drew. That is soon! But great news that he has had people come back fully recovered. It's a bummer that the timing comes right when it seems you are feeling really fit again, sorry about that. Good luck with the decision making.

Thanks Maggie. I figured out that this Oct 14th is just another consultation with the doctor that would perform the surgery. So I will keep you updated with when I decided to actually do it.
