Doing this type of workout on the treadmill doesn't give you the chance to get after it. I have to run under control in order to maintain perfect form, stay on the treadmill etc...
The first mile was the hardest, if I were on the track I would be able to do some strides and pick-ups to get my body/legs ready to run fast. It just isn't possible on the treadmill. The other problem is that I have a limit of 12mph that I cannot surpass. If I were on the track I could definately run under 5min pace at certain points in the workout.
Overall I am pleased with the effort and times, my legs were done after 4, but I think that is just the accumulation of lots of race pace workouts and being in my flats way too often.
