Weather: warm and very humid - strong wind off lake

Comment: "I decided last minute to run this race even though training is very intense right now. I figured some faster stuff will only help me for the Capitol Mile.It was a nice morning, but very humid. Probably almost 80 by race time. The course was very hilly. It was an out-and-back - I got stuck behind a car right before the turnaround which was a bummer. Once turned, there was a strong wind off the lake - it made me work harder, but it felt welcome. The last mile was very hilly so I just tried to hang on. I was ready to turn on the afterburners at the end, but the last .1 was on large gravel! That sucked! Oh well, finished last .2 at 6:10 pace. Lots of veterans of the race I talked to said the course is long, and my garmin was clicking off at the mile markers perfectly, so I assume the course was closer to 3.2 than 3.1.I came in 1st in my AG, 2nd woman overall. I was hoping for a chance at first since it is such a small race, but there was a blazing fast teenager. There was also an amazingly fast woman in the 10K who runs for the UW - clocked a 34:30! Wow.Fun race, met lots of nice people. I came home with a shiny new trophy that will undoubtedly make my boys think their mom is a superstar :)Now need to rest up for my 20 miler tomorrow.Oh yeah, splits:6:487:077:131:11 (6:09 pace)"
