Notes

Knee started to hurt around mile 16, was able to maintain pace until mile 20, but had to slow. Also had to re-tighten IT Band strap 4 or 5 times during the race. Started off nice and easy, first 5K was almost 30 seconds slower than my target, so I increased my pace, I made up all but 2 seconds by 10K, I kept my pace in search of the 3:20 pacer. By the 15K mark my avg pace was down to 7:34, I was still in search of the 3:20 pacer. By the 11 mile mark I was already 1 minute over plan, I tried to just maintain/slightly slow pace through half way. At the half way mark was ahead of target by about a minute. Decided at mile 14 that I would just maintain my pace as long as possible because I had a few signs that my knee most likely will slow my pace later in the race. Held pace until about 20 miles, dropped pace about 1 min per mile through mile 23, then drop another 30 seconds per mile from 23 to the end.

Overall, happy my knee held up as long as it did, but possibly if I started slower my knee would have lastest a bit longer. Also, the Endurance drink on course made my stomach a bit upset after about 10 miles. I took 3 Margarita Bloks by mile 5, ate 1/2 my Bonk bar just before mile 11, then did eat my other 1/2 bonk bar just before mile 18. Ate 3 fruit punch bloks at about mile 21.

Temp started out at 45 at 7:30, was up to 55 by 10, and 60 by 11. There was no clouds at all, and when not running in the shade it was a bit warm out. There was a light 9 SE wind, but only felt the wind a few times.

At a BAB Bagel with PB and a Banana just before 6:30. Drank my UCAN drink, 10oz water and 1 scoop from about 6:45-7:00.

Created my own splits band, only used the Mileage, Time and Mile Pace. Had it wrapped around my wrist next to my watch. Was a bit small so it was hard to read, should make it a bit larger next time.
