Went out looking for my 2011 Boston qualifying time of 3:15. Decided that I was going to hang on the back of the 3:10 pace group through 20 miles and then take it easy on the way back. Felt pretty good through 14 or 15 and was running right with the 3:10 group. At 17 I know I was breaking down and starting walking at 18. The last 8 miles were a mess. I walked at least once each mile and was eventually caught by the 3:20 (yes, 3:20!) pace group with about 1.5 miles left. I was able to stay with them until the finish.
This is the first race that my time stunk (according to what I wanted to do) and that I'm completely alright with. I need to really make some changes and get a better plan before attempting this again.
