Notes

was pleased with this effort for the most part on a LR route i ran for 20 and 20+ years ago w/marathon training, so i was excited to run it again but this time the outcome did'nt go as well as planned. I set out at a comfortable pace/effort and felt good all the way down the blvd and on MacCorkle ave past Dunbar toll bridge to where i turned on Rocklake drive(right at 11 mile mark) then i headed up to Kan Tpk for part of the way back and on the back streets so i was'nt running on the broke sidewalk facing the traffic so close on the Tpk then i was feeling pretty good at that point so instead of heading back onto MacCorkle at Jefferson Rd i decided to finish it strong and hit the hills on the tpk back to UC. That is where things did'nt go as planned. I felt pretty good going up the big hill at the Tech Center but slowly and steadily the sun(even though i did'nt even feel hot) began to take it's toll on me. By the time i got back to Joplin park i was feeling drained and several joints in my body(hips, feet and ankles along w/my neck(bulging disc) began giving me problems causing my posture to go to pot and then low back problems further complicating the matter really took effect on the ups and downs of the hills. So i topped my water bottle off at the water fountain with the limited cytomax left in my bottle just to get something to wet my mouth with back to UC. Once i hit MacCorkle ave w/the sun out in full force i began to cut the effort back even more so i could finish the run and get my 20 miles in and call it a day. Then i started feeling lightheaded and had nausea shortly past Oakwood. So i thought it was the heat and maybe i was overheating a bit so i stopped over by the amtrack station for a few minutes to cool off and then finish the little over 2.5 miles back to UC, but the longer i sat the worse i felt. When i left the shaded area and headed up MacCorkle i walked a bit to c if i felt better then would take off running again but even walking was a labor at this point so i decided to stop the run just shy of 17.50 but i was right at 2 1/2 hours which is a good LR and then walk back. I started feeling even worse and more lethargic on the walk back and the pain was getting worse and the nausea was too. I finally made it back and sat in the AC for about 20 minutes b4 i even felt like leaving the lot. I was disappointed at the how my body held up and felt on this run leaving some serious doubts about if i am going to b able to complete the marathon yet alone race it. I am not sure if the body is going to b able to do it in October. I am pretty much obligated to at least run it since i can't trade down the half at this point or transfer my entry to someone else. I was beat up all day yesterday and still today(very appropriate feeling for my 39th birthday i guess) i may b coming up with some alternated training options for the remaining weeks up to Columbus and c how my body tolerates.
