Notes

I had no idea what I was doing. I had planned on trying for a 5 mile PR a couple of days ago, but my last few runs felt pretty awful. I went out for the warmup mile, and my legs felt tired. It also felt really hot out! I ditched my vest and calf sleeves to keep from roasting during the run. A group of us were standing there talking and then the gun was fired. Oops. I guess we are supposed to run. First mile was close to 8 minutes. Should I speed up? Should I slow down? I didn't have a clue. Running wasn't flowing easily so I just decided to not worry about it. Gloves came off in the first mile. I know those people in long pants and long sleeves had to be dying. When I finished, someone asked me how I did. I had no clue. I didn't even know my finishing time. I looked and Garmin said 41:09. On the way home I looked at my fastest 5 mile time which was Turkey Trot this year. This was a 5 mile PR. That last mile uphill makes it harder than Turkey Trot. I'm happy with the pace considering how I felt. While it was a PR, I didn't feel like it should have been if that makes any sense. Anyway, best part of the race was seeing so many folks. I saw about a million people I know. Okay, maybe not a million, but pretty close.
