That was one of the hardest workouts I've done. Part of the reason is no doubt that it's my third workout in four days (wtf? everything I have to say about this workout makes it sound crazier and crazier - i need to articulate these things before hand), another part is that I'm generally just ill disposed towards tempo workouts. It was also mammoth if you take it allas T-pace (like JD says to). Ultimately that's 50-minutes at 6:07-6:09 pace. Even with the breaks, that's about 9 miles in 59 minutes, which is almost as fast as I ran the Tely last year AND that's with the slow breaks in the middle where I wasn't even running sometimes. Ultimately it was 50-minutes at my new 60-minute race pace... third workout in four days. Even with the breaks that's crazy. Basically MORE than a 19:05 minute 5k for my first interval - until now I've only done that once or twice (5k and 10k pbs), and it was my first of four descending intervals. Anyway, the pure senseless exhaustion, doing it on the treadmill, facing darkness in the window, and doing it amongst these other workouts makes it a memorable workout and hopefully one I can look back on for confidence building.
