Notes

See if you can swim part of the course at around the same time as the race (try to get an idea of what the tide/current will be like)

Swim about 50 min in total

15 min. warm up--try alternate side breathing and get used to how the suit feels in salt water--gauge any chafing issues from the suit.

30 min. swim --try 5 min. ez, 1 min. pick up pace as if to pass someone, 4 min ez, 1 min pick up, 3 min. ez, 1 min. pick up--start again at 5 ez, 1 min pick up, 4 ez, 1 min. pick up, 3 ez, 1 min. pick up

5 min. warm down---practice how you will finish swim and come on to shore

-------------------------------------------

I only got about 35 minutes in, but I did do about half of what the actual course is. Overall I was only at 1.9 miles per hour while I need to be at 2.4, but it did include several minutes of just treading water to test if I was actually drifting one way or the other. I don't think there was any real current, but the waves were definitely headed North, so the long part of the swim (heading South) was all crashing into the waves. As long as I was breathing to the left side, it wasn't too much of an issue, otherwise I may have gotten a mouth full of water.
