Today I did a semi-tempo run around the Hopkinton Loop with a little added on to make it about 8 miles. It was supposed to be a regular tempo, with a 3 mile build up, 4 mile tempo, then a 2 mile cool down, but it wasn't to be. The build up started well, I went out in about 8:30s or so and hit the 3.25 mile mark with an average pace of 7:55 or so. When I started the tempo portion, the going got a little rough. I was probably pushing this part too hard (6:20 average pace) for my conditioning, but I also suddenly felt wicked hungry. After I did two tempo miles I called it quits and just ran the last three relatively easy. Overall it was ok, but it could have been better.
