Toasted Owl Gives a Hoot 5k today, the course was a PR course if I ever saw one. There was a slight uphill in the beginning, really gradual for about a half mile or so. Then it was flat, very very flat, to a turnaround point, then back the way we came with a little bit of a route change to make the finish a straight and also a gradual downhill. Despite this, I failed to PR. Disappointed with 17:39, because I thought I was in better shape than this. However, it's definitely the most even splits I've ever run (5:39, 5:41, 5:43, then some number for the last part).
I also didn't win best costume, that went to a guy dressed as a Hooter's girl. I think mine was better, perhaps even the best there. I got a lot of compliments, and some unofficial votes for best costume. I was also by far the fastest costumed racer, unless you count third place, who wore a clown wig.
