What a weirdo race. The course seemed like it was going to be fun, since it was a mix of roads and cross-country style trails, but it ended up being pretty poorly organized. I made a wrong turn at one point, since the course wasn't marked and there was no one to point the way, which added at least a minute to my time. After that, there were too many 180 degree turns to get a good rhythm going, and I also think the course was long. There is no way that my actual 5k shape is somewhere around 21 minutes, especially since I got mile and two mile splits of 5:55 and 11:42.
That said, I did win the race, which was nice. The RD asked me my opinion afterwards and I politely explained what I liked and disliked.
