This might have been my worst race ever. During the warmup I felt very flat - dead legs. I just didn't have it. I didn't even want to do strides. The first mile I was @ 6:42 about 30 seconds slower than I expected. I also had to deal with very tight legs which affected me as well. About 10 days ago I did a 10 mile training run a bit faster than this 5 miler, so to run like this was frustrating. Effort wise, (cardio) it felt like a training run.
Yesterday I felt fine during my run so I picked up the pace the last few miles.... so I just have to keep in mind that it's a day-to-day thing for me right now on how my legs are going to be like. For a race I want to run well, I probably should limit running for a couple of days prior to the race as this seems to help the tightness.
