Notes

Time for one of my favorite events... the RTB Relay. Things didn't start off on the right foot. The vans were late so we didn't get to the cabin until 2:00 PM. The room I was in was cold. I struggled to sleep, only 2 hours. I didn't know it at the time, but this would be the only sleep I would get until I got home Saturday night.

Usually in this race I would feel rested and strong the first leg and then progressively more tired from running twice more and the travel, limited sleep, etc. However this time I felt wiped out from the start. I had already decided because of my Achilles to run conservatively the first two legs and then run hard the last one. Because of tiredness I would have stayed with this plan even if the Achilles were fine. So I ran this as a medium hard effort. Running 7:14 wasn't all that easy today. My run was at 5:00 PM.

One of our teammates made these great Team Caveman racing tops. I had my spandex jungle half tights and matching headband to go along with the top, so I was all decked out! Something else new was the 'BONE'. We carried a large plastic dinosaur bone like a relay torch from runner to runner. This was really cool. There were a lot of fun comments out there from other teams like, beat the bone, I love your bone, etc. We've become one of the popular talked about teams now. I don't think Team Caveman will have any problems in future years to recruit runners.
